A SHORT HISTORY OF THE
BAY PINES VA HEALTHCARE SYSTEM

Presented by Jason W. Dangel, Public Affairs Officer, and
Stella Lareau, Community Relations Outreach

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 25, 2015, 7 P.M.
Room 210B, Seminole Recreation Center
9100 – 113th Street, Seminole

In 1930, the Seminole community got behind its local leaders when word spread that Florida was getting a new National Soldiers Home. The newly formed VA wanted to provide healthcare for veterans, and at the same time the local economy was in need of a public works project. The Bay Pines site was chosen and construction began in 1931. That’s a brief introduction to one of the most interesting programs we’ve had the honor of presenting.
