Our official opening day is almost here!
The Seminole Historical Museum officially opens
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 27, 2016, 7 p.m.
at our new address, 7464 Ridge Road.
We couldn’t be prouder to officially open Seminole’s Museum
where we will present many hours of
interesting, entertaining, inspiring, amusing, fascinating,
educational, challenging, informative
programs for your edification and enjoyment.
Our speaker is
DR. GARY MORMINO,
one of Florida’s best-known historian/authors,
will speak about the Florida Dream.
He holds a doctorate from the University of North Carolina at
Chapel Hill and is the co-founder of the Florida Studies Program
at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg and the
Frank E. Duckwall Florida professor of history emeritus.
Although he spent his career in academia, Dr. Mormino
says he always wanted to write for “a broader audience.”
He has done so in a number of books; his best known is
“Land of Sunshine, State of Dreams: A Social History
of Modern Florida.”
His writing is also familiar to readers of the Tampa Bay Times.
He is a frequent contributor to the Times and other Florida newspapers
as well as to the New Yorker and the New York Times.
